Casa al Giogo is a House, yellow and welcoming, in the midst of green pastures where in summer cows come to cool..
It is an old country farmhouse where in the past several families of peasants lived, it is said that many years ago a woman even gave birth on a snowy winter night. An Irishman and his family lived there, and they raised rabbits. The inhabitants of Barco, the small hamlet next to us, tell us.
Then for several years Casa al Giogo has been abandoned, the vegetation has made room and several parts have collapsed.
In 2006 the Unione Montana dei Comuni del Mugello, to which the house belongs, has restructured the entire cottage thanks to a European funding obtained in collaboration with
the Association Astolfo, an association of the territory that deals with mental health. For some years this association has managed the house as a place of meetings and stays for people with mental disabilities.
Today Casa al Giogo is a tourist resort open to all, solitary travelers, couples, families, groups and children…. the human beings we love most and for whom for six years now we organize 3 weeks of residential summer camps between June and July.
Open to everyone from mid-July to September, open for self-management groups and organized seminars during the other months of the year.
Closed the months of January, February and March.
I love this place, which I met on my path in 2012 I immediately fell in love
and since then I manage it with the help of family and friends
During the summer months I move up here with family, goats and our dog Tilly and we keep open from June to September.
From October to early January and in April and May I open for organized seminars, self-management groups and sporting events that take place on the territory.
This space is for me a gift, it represents the possibility to welcome and take care, to express myself, to create, to know and host people, to exchange stories, visions, ideas…
I hope that those who pass by here will bring inside a beautiful memory made of what they were looking for and surrounded by calm, silences, starry skies….
